Moonshadow Collective: Art, Events, Reiki, Gifts

There are spaces that hit you in your chest before you even take in what’s actually in front of you. For me, that was Moonshadow Collective.

I’ve known Beck for years—first through Instagram (because that’s how all my favorite people find me), and then through real life, business, creative work, and friendship. She’s one of those people who operates on a whole different level—photographer, branding expert, life coach, reiki master, sound bath practitioner. She’s also been one of the biggest influences in how I approach my work and creative flow.

She helped me realize I had hit a sweet spot in my business. More importantly, she helped me figure out how to stay there.

So when I finally made the trip to her new space, Moonshadow Collective in downtown Sykesville, I already knew it would be good. I didn’t expect to get emotional. I walked in, and the first thing she said was, “How are you?” And I pulled up a chair and just… exhaled. That’s the kind of place it is.

What Moonshadow Is

Moonshadow Collective is:

  • a photography studio
  • a boutique and art space
  • a reiki and healing studio
  • a space for workshops, events, and collaboration

But listing it out like that doesn’t really cover it. You can feel her fingerprint on every inch of it. Nothing feels chaotic, even though it easily could. It’s layered, but intentional. Grounded. Familiar.

Beck is someone who leads with presence. That comes through in everything—from the way the space is lit, to how it smells, to the handwritten signage and the tucked-away details you’ll find if you actually slow down and look.

Pro-tip: Don’t go in expecting to browse and be out in five minutes. This is a place you sit down in. You don’t just shop—you land.

While You’re There: Spend a Whole Day in Sykesville

If you haven’t been to downtown Sykesville recently (or ever), it’s an easy day trip with that walkable small-town energy. Here’s how to make the most of it:

Start at the Sykesville Farmers Market

Sundays, May through October, 9am–1pm

This is not a grab-a-cucumber-and-go kind of market. The vendors here are vetted and local—think fresh sourdough, small batch pickles, wildflower bouquets, and handmade home goods.

Pro-tip: Show up right at 9 if you want first pick of the baked goods. The regulars don’t play around.

Location: 7565 Main St, Sykesville, MD

Stop in at The Vine on Main

Wine, gifts, unexpected gems

Right next to Moonshadow, you’ll find The Vine on Main, which might look like just a wine shop—but go in. This is where you find host gifts that don’t scream “last-minute.” Wine, yes, but also small-batch pantry goods, handmade items, and gift boxes curated with care. It’s the kind of place where everything feels like it has a story behind it.

Pro-tip: Ask for their favorite under-$20 bottle. They always have a recommendation, and it’s never just a throwaway.

Let’s Talk Galentine’s

Spoiler: I’m hosting a very belated Galentine’s event at Moonshadow in March. It’ll be small—8 to 10 of us, max—and we’re making something beautiful together. Think: whimsical, crafty, a little grounding, very us.

If you want in on that list, let me know now. It’ll fill fast, and this is one of those things you’ll want to make space for.

In Summary

If you’re looking for a creative reset, a thoughtful gift, or just a space to sit still and take a breath—make the drive. Go see Moonshadow. Wander Sykesville. Start your Sunday early with a coffee, a bouquet, a bottle of something beautiful. Pull up a chair and exhale.

Because some places aren’t just shops or studios. They’re medicine.
